Sultan Ahmet Mosque

It is a masterpiece built by Mimar Sinan by the original architect of the period, Sedefkar Mehmet Ağa, by the order of Sultan Ahmet 1. The mosque, whose construction took 7.5 years, was started in 1609 and completed in 1617. The mosque is also called Blue Mosque because it is decorated with blue, green and white colored Iznik tiles and the interior of its half domes and large domes are decorated with blue-colored pencil works. There are 23 thousand Iznik tiles inside the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, which consists of 50 different types.
